Deceleration of economic growth continued in the 4th quarter

According to flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the economic growth was 4.5% in Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2007 compared to the same period in the previous year.

Economic growth of the 4th quarter 2007 was the slowest of the past 8 years. According to the preliminary calculations, value added decreased in transport, storage and communications as well as in real estate, renting and business activities. A rapid growth of value added continued in financial intermediation.

The seasonally adjusted GDP at constant prices increased by 0.6% in the 4th quarter compared to the previous quarter.

The flash estimate on economic growth is issued for the economy as a whole. Calculations are based on the data received from administrative databases and monthly statistical surveys. The preliminary GDP for the 4th quarter of 2007 will be published by Statistics Estonia as a press release and in database on 10 March.
