In October the results of accommodation establishments were good

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 179,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 6% more compared to the same month of the previous year.

The share of foreign tourists was 61% of the total number of accommodated tourists. Unlike in a couple of last years, the number of foreign tourist increased in October compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of accommodated tourists from Estonia’s neighbouring countries Russia, Finland and Latvia as well as from Germany, Lithuania and Italy increased compared to October of the previous year. The number of tourists from Norway is continually showing a decreasing trend and the number of tourists from Sweden stayed at the level of the previous year. In total, 109,000 foreign tourists used the services of accommodation establishments which makes 7% more than in October of the previous year.

In October 69,000 Estonian residents stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 2,500 more domestic tourists than in the same month a year ago. More than one fifth of the Estonian residents staying in accommodation establishments used the services of health resorts and the opportunities to spend their free time healthily in the accommodation establishments providing services of health resorts. Over a thousand Estonian residents more stayed in this kind of accommodation establishments compared to October of the previous year.

In September 717 accommodation establishments offered accommodation services for visitors. 16,900 rooms and 36,200 beds were available for visitors. The room occupancy rate was 39% being two percentage points smaller than in October of the previous year.

The average cost of a guest night in an accommodation establishment was 505 kroons, this was by 18 kroons more expensive than in October of the last year.
