Consumer price index increased in September

In September compared to September of the previous year, the prices of goods increased by 10.6%, of which the prices of food products by 17.4% and the prices of manufactured goods by 5.3%. The prices of services increased 10.3%. Regulated prices of goods and services changed by 24.8% and non-regulated prices by 6.6%. The index was mainly influenced by the price increase of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, higher prices of motor fuel and transport services and by the increase in the expenditures on housing. Annual price increase of food accounted for over a fourth, and the prices of alcohol and tobacco products affected by the increased rates of excise duties — for nearly a fifth of the total percentage change. Motor fuel, heat energy, heating fuel and electricity altogether gave also a fourth.

In September compared to August, the consumer price index increased 0.6% which is comparable with the indicators of May, June and July of this year. In September compared to August, the index was mainly influenced by the price increase caused by the comprehensive coming into the market of tobacco products labelled with new tax stamps, seasonal price increase of clothing and footwear and seasonal price decrease of vegetables as well as lower prices of motor fuel.
