According to Statistics Estonia, the percentage change of the consumer price index in November 2008 compared to October was -0.3% and compared to November 2007 8.0%.
In November 2008 compared to November of the previous year, the prices of goods had changed by 5.6%, of which the prices of food products by 11.1% and the prices of manufactured goods by 1.3%. The prices of services had changed by 12.6%. Regulated prices of goods and services changed by 24.0% and non-regulated prices by 3.6%.
Compared to November 2007, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the expenditures on housing, which accounted for a third of the overall change of the index and of which the price increase of heat energy (by 59.2%) gave about three quarters. Alcoholic beverages (increased by 18.5%) and tobacco (51.0%) together accounted for about a fifth and food (5.9%) for more than an eighth of the annual change of the index.
The 12 months change of the consumer price index was less than 8% last in September 2007, when it was 7.2%.
In November compared to October, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the price decrease of motor fuel (-10.3%), by the price increase of heat energy (5.0%), by the decrease in the prices of vegetables (-4.7%) and by the increase in the prices of alcoholic beverages (1.3%).
