Consumer price index increased in June

According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index increased 3.5% in June 2010 compared to June of the previous year and 0.4% compared to May this year.

Goods were 3.7% and services 3.3% more expensive compared to June of the previous year. Food products were 3.2% and manufactured goods 4.0% more expensive.

Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 10.1% and non-regulated prices by 1.5% compared to June of the previous year.

Compared to June of the previous year, the index was mainly influenced by the 12.2% price increase of electricity, heat energy and fuels as a whole; and by the 18.8% price increase of motor fuel, which both gave almost a third of the total change. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the prices of fresh vegetables and heating oil have increased the most (42.5% and 34.7%, respectively). Flour was by 17.6% and potatoes were by 17.1% cheaper.

In June compared to May, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the ending of the special offers of mobile communication services, by the price increase of electricity, as well as by the price decrease of motor fuel. Paprika was by 37% cheaper and sauerkraut by 31.2% more expensive than a month ago.
