By the midnight of Tuesday, 24 January, more than half a million people had been enumerated online – this is 38% of the estimated population of Estonia. The census can be completed online only until 31 January.

The recommendation of Statistics Estonia is to complete the e-census now, instead on waiting until the end of January when the system load will be higher and could make the enumeration process slower. In the first two weeks, more than 310,000 persons have already been enumerated in the e-census.

By the afternoon of Saturday, 7 January, more than 200,000 persons had been enumerated online. This represents about 15% of the Estonian population. Participation rates are still the highest in Tartu and Harju counties.

Tonight, on 3 January, the e-census software will be updated. As a result, it will not be possible to participate in the e-census between 23:00 and 24:00. The updates are required to eliminate certain problems that have emerged in the first few days of the census.

By the afternoon of Tuesday, 3 January, 102,620 persons had been enumerated online. This represents more than 8% of all Estonian residents. Participation rates have been the highest in Harju and Tartu counties.

The 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), which began in the first minutes of 31 December, has had a flying start – during the first 24 hours, online questionnaires were completed on more than 26,000 persons. The census questionnaires can be completed online until the end of January.

Today, in the first minutes of 31 December, the eleventh Population and Housing Census began in Estonia. Until the end of January, residents can participate in the Census online, since mid-February enumerators will be visiting homes.
