Annual change of consumer price index was mainly influenced by housing in November

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was 0.1% in November 2011 compared to October and 4.2% compared to November of the previous year.

Goods were 4.2% and services 4.1% more expensive compared to November 2010.

Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 7.3% and non-regulated prices by 3.1% compared to November of the previous year.

Compared to November of the previous year, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by housing expenditures, which gave over a third of the total increase. The main reason for this was 8.6% more expensive electricity, heat energy and heating compared to the period a year ago. 4.3% more expensive food and non-alcoholic beverages gave a quarter of the total increase of the index, and 13.4% more expensive motor fuel gave a sixth of the total increase of the index compared to November of the previous year. Compared to the same period a year ago, the postal services (52%), sugar (42%), coffee (32%) and heating oil (31%) have increased the most. In November this year fresh vegetables were 21% cheaper than in the previous year.

In November compared to October, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the 0.7% price increase of food, of which over a half gave the seasonal increase in the prices of fresh vegetables (10.3%) and nearly 40% the price increase of meat products (1.8%). Compared to October, the cucumbers were two times more expensive, the grapes 46% and tomatoes 20% more expensive. Onions were 23% and mandarins 21% cheaper.
