In October, the consumer price index was influenced the most by food and non-alcoholic beverages

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was 0.2% in October 2012 compared to September and 4.1% compared to October of the previous year.

Goods were 3.9% and services 4.5% more expensive compared to October 2011.

Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 7.4% and non-regulated prices by 2.9% compared to October of the previous year.

Compared to October of the previous year, the consumer price index was the most influenced by food which gave over a third of the total increase. Of which in turn a third gave 9.5% more expensive meat and meat products, nearly a quarter fresh fruit and another quarter fresh vegetables. Housing expenditures gave about 30% of the total increase, of which 12.1% more expensive heat energy accounted for over a half compared to October of the previous year. 8.8% more expensive motor fuel gave less than an eighth of the total increase. Compared to October of the previous year, of food products, the prices of fresh vegetables have increased the most (35%) and the prices of groats have decreased the most (11%). The plane tickets were 60% more expensive than in October of the previous year.

In October compared to September, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the price increase of food caused by more expensive meat and meat products and fresh vegetables, as well as 1.8% price decrease of motor fuel and price increase of plane tickets. The prices of fresh cucumbers increased the most (60%) and the prices of potatoes decreased the most (12%).
