In February the industrial production grew compared to the previous year

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2013, the production of industrial enterprises increased by 3% compared to February of the previous year.

The increase in manufacturing was 4% compared to February of the previous year. The growth in the production was most of all influenced by the increase in the manufacturing of electronic and wood products. Among the branches of industry holding larger shares, the production grew also in the manufacture of metal and chemical products. The volume of production fell in the manufacture of food products, electrical equipment and machinery and equipment.

In February, 73% of the whole production of manufacturing was sold on the external market. Export sales of the manufacturing production grew 7% in February compared to the same month of the previous year, domestic sales increased 2%.

In February 2013 compared to January, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production decreased 4%, the production in manufacturing fell 2%.

Compared to February 2012, the production of electricity increased by 10% and the production of heat decreased by 19%. The growth of electricity production was mainly caused by the increase in exports compared to February 2012.
