On 20 October 2010, the first World Statistics Day was celebrated under the auspices of the United Nations. The aim of the World Statistics Day is to raise awareness of the official statistics’ contribution in social and economic development of the society and to introduce the production of official statistics, statistical system and its achievements.
The keywords of the Statistics Day are service, professionalism and integrity. These keywords draw attention to the information service offered by the statistical system on national and international level and hopefully help to enhance the public awareness about official statistics and confidence in it.
Celebrating the World Statistics Day in Estonia
The conference “Estonian Statistics in Focus” was arranged in Estonian National Library on 20 October 2010. The conference is targeted at all users of statistics as well as the partners of SE.
