Exploring population statistics with the Internet-based mapping application Google Earth

Download and install the Google Earth software from the website address http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
Download the KML-file “Population-Statistics-in-Google-Earth.kml“ from http://www.stat.ee/public/kaardid/google-earth/Population-Statistics-in-Google-Earth.kml
In the box ”File Download” appearing on the screen select “Open”.
The KML-file ”Population-Statistics-in-Google-Earth.kml“ has been downloaded successfully when the borders of local government units and the introduction and links to the website of Statistics Estonia appear on the screen. Having read through the introduction to Statistics Estonia, click ”OK” . If the window presenting introduction does not appear within a minute, please check that the Google Earth window is in a magnified mode (“Maximize”) and zoom in closer to the terrain.
Left click the zoom-in (+) icon on the Zoom bar located on the right side of the screen and hold the left mouse button down until the logos of Statistics Estonia appear.
Left click on any local government unit on the map or on Statistics Estonia’s logo in its centre — the population statistics indicators of the given location shall be displayed.
To open the introduction to Statistics Estonia, find ”Sidebar” on the left side menu first and proceed from the directory ”Places” to the subdirectory ”Statistikaamet”.
