According to Statistics Estonia, in September this year exports of goods increased by about a quarter in current prices compared to September of the previous year. Nearly half of the increase was caused by the increase of re-export of fuels.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,512 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 76.14 kroons. The slowdown of the wages and salaries¿ growth that started in the 2nd quarter of 2008 continued in the 3rd quarter. Compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 14.8% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 14.0% higher.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2008 the percentage change in the producer price index was 0.8% compared to September and 6.3% compared to October of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, 8,448 purchase-sale transactions of real estate were notarised in the 3rd quarter, which is less compared to the previous quarter and compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The average price of a real estate transaction decreased.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2008, the unemployment rate rose to 6.2%. The unemployment increased on account of persons who have lost the job as well as on account of young people entering the labour market.
