According to Statistics Estonia, in April both exports and imports of goods at current prices declined by 40% compared to April of the previous year. The foreign trade deficit decreased twice.

Relative poverty, 2007
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2007 19.5% of the Estonian population lived in relative poverty, a similar amount to the previous year. The difference in income between the poorest and richest fifth of the population was fivefold, leaving Estonia persistently in the top ten of the poorest countries in Europe.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2009 the producer price index decreased 0.5% compared to April and 0.6% compared to May 2008.

Average wages and salaries, 2008
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,912 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 77.52 kroons. Compared to 2007, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 13.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 15.3%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2009, 1,700 enterprises operated in the information and communications technologies sector (ICT), which gave 5% of the net sales of the business sector.

The OECD expert group will visit Estonia
From 16–18 June the expert group of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will be visiting Statistics Estonia in order to elaborate the report estimating the ability of Estonia to meet the statistical requirements for joining the OECD.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 152,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of Estonia, which was 22% more than in March.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in April 2009 exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 7.7 billion kroons at current prices and imports to Estonia 9.5 billion kroons. Compared to April of the previous year, both exports and imports decreased about 40%.
