Production of industrial output and energy, August 2010
According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2010 the production of industrial enterprises grew 23% compared to August of the previous year. This year the growth of production has mainly influenced by the increase in external demand, since domestic market has slightly livened up only during the last months.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2010 compared to August of the previous year the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises decreased 1% at constant prices.

E-Census of the Agricultural Census will end on Friday
According to Statistics Estonia, the deadline of data submission for the e-Census of the Agricultural Census is on Friday, 1 October for legal persons and private persons having joined Statistics Estonia’s electronic data transmission environment eSTAT.

Wiesbaden Group Conference, which brings to Estonia experts of the statistical business registers from the whole world, will be held in Tallinn on 27–30 September. The conference is organised by Statistics Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 tourists spent over 2.3 billion nights in nearly half million accommodation establishments of the European Union. At the same time, this decade has seen an increase in the terrorist attack risk and the economic crisis of recent years has had a significant influence on peoples travel behaviour and on accommodation establishments.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July compared to July of the previous year, exports grew by 32% and imports by 23% at current prices. Exports of machinery and equipment increased by 61% and imports by 69%.

Government debt and deficit (revised data), 2009
According to revised data of Statistics Estonia, in 2009 the Estonian general government sector deficit was 1.7% and gross debt level was 7.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In the 1st half of 2010 the general government sector deficit was 4.2 billion kroons and gross debt level was 15 billion kroons.

The Agricultural Census survey begins today
According to Statistics Estonia, starting today, 15 September, interviewers from Statistics Estonia will begin visiting households included on the census list for the Agricultural Census. According to Statistics Estonia, the first week of Agricultural Census has been successful — 1500 questionnaires have been completed in e-census and nearly 1000 questionnaires are half ready.

Gross domestic product, 2nd quarter 2010
According to the first estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 3.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2010 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The GDP grew last in the 4th quarter of 2007.

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonian resident consumes 188 grams of potatoes a day, Latvian and Lithuanian residents 274 and 234 grams, respectively. The data are based on the European food consumption database DAFNE (Data Food Networking), which since autumn 2010 also contains data on Estonia.

The Agricultural Census starts from 1 September
According to Statistics Estonia, the Agricultural Census is conducted in Estonia from 1 September to 15 November, in the course of which the data on agricultural production will be collected from nearly 30,000 holdings. For the first time it is possible to participate in the census also via Internet.
