In 2010, part-time working was influenced both by employees’ gender and age of their children, the biggest share of part-time employees were among women with children aged up to 2 years. This has been proved in Statistics Estonia’s publication “Man’s home is the world, woman’s world is her home?”

Production of industrial output and energy, September 2011
According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2011, the production of industrial enterprises grew 6% compared to the same month of the previous year. The slowdown in production was most of all influenced by the manufacturing of electronic products.

Retail trade, September 2011
According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2011 compared to September of the previous year the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 4% at constant prices. Since February compared to the same month of the previous year, the retail sales have shown a stable growth.

Residents of Estonia are expecting to find out the real population number from the Population Census
70% of the residents of Estonia are expecting the answer about the real population number of the country from the Population and Housing Census which will begin at the end of the year, appears from the survey conducted by the research agency Factum & Ariko in October. 95% of the persons questioned consider the Census essential for Estonia.

One can apply for the enumerator’s post still for a week
Up to 3 November one can apply for the enumerator’s post at the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year. Most candidates are expected to Tallinn and Harju county, to the neighbourhood of Suure-Jaani and to the rural municipalities near Lake Peipus.

According to Statistics Estonia, the young statistician’s grant named after Albert Pullerits bestowed for the first time this year was awarded Piret Avila for the Master’s work completed in Tallinn University.

Producer price index of industrial output, export and import price index, September 2011
According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2011, the change in producer price index of industrial output was 0.0% compared to August and 3.7% compared to September of the previous year.

Construction price index, 3rd quarter 2011
According to Statistics Estonia, the percentage change of the construction price index was 1.0% in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to the 2nd quarter, and 3.0% compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year.

Statistics Estonia: Enumerators will start visiting people from 16 February
The enumerators will visit people in the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year only during the period 16.02 – 31.03.2012 and present their employment certificate with a photo issued by Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2011, exports from Estonia amounted to 1.0 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 1.1 billion euros at current prices. If in July the annual growth of exports and imports was by 34% and 38%, respectively, then in August exports grew by 45% and imports by 42%.

According to Statistics Estonia, during the three summer months of 2011, for the first time more than one million foreign and domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of Estonia. Compared to the previous summer, 14% more tourists used the services of accommodation establishments.

Statistics Estonia starts the recruitment of 2,200 enumerators
According to Statistics Estonia, a job competition for the recruitment of 2,200 enumerators for the Population and Housing Census 2011, which will start at the end of this year, is declared open today, on 3 October, at 9:00 a.m.
