Accommodation, December 2012
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012, 2.8 million domestic and foreign tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments, which is 4% more than the year earlier. Compared to 2011, the number of foreign tourists increased by 4% and the number of domestic tourists by 5%.

Contracts of real estate, 2012
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012, 36,176 purchase-sale transactions of real estate in the total value of 1.7 billion euros were notarised. In 2012, the number of transactions increased by 12% compared to 2011 and the total value of transactions increased by 13%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012 exports of goods increased by 4% and imports by 9% compared to 2011. In 2012, the annual growth of exports and imports was slower than in the previous year when both exports and imports grew by 37%.

Preliminary estimate of economic growth, 4th quarter 2012
According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 3.7% in the 4th quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The annual GDP growth in 2012 was 3.2% compared to the previous year.

Based on the 2011 census, the most densely populated area in Estonia is the Lasnamäe city district
According to Statistics Estonia, population density is the highest in the Lasnamäe district of Tallinn city, specifically in the Linnamäe-Kärberi streets area with 15,800 inhabitants per square kilometre, as shown by the 1 km x 1 km grid map of population density created on the basis of the 2011 Population and Housing Census.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2013 compared to December 2012, the change of the consumer price index was 0.7% and compared to January of the previous year 3.4%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2012 compared to December of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 5% at constant prices. In 2012 compared to 2011, the retail sales increased 7%.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the cereal production was 993,800 tons in 2012. Despite the smaller production than expected, it increased by almost a third compared to the previous year.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the production of milk amounted to 721,400 tons in 2012, which is 4% more than a year earlier. The number of dairy cows did not change compared to the previous year, but milk production per cow kept increasing.

Preliminary population, 1 January 2013
According to Statistics Estonia, by preliminary data, the estimated population number in Estonia was 1,286,540 on 1 January 2013. The decline in the population in 2012 was mainly influenced by the increase of emigration and the growth in the number of deaths.

Statistics Estonia wishes to shorten the deadline for submitting the annual report to three-four months
Todays Eesti Päevaleht states mistakenly that Statistics Estonia wants the enterprises to submit their annual reports during two months instead of six months, which was the deadline up to now. In reality the proposal was to shorten the deadline by a couple of months – annual reports subject to auditing would be submitted during four months and reports not subject to auditing during three months after the end of the financial year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2012, 195,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments. The number of domestic tourists increased by 12% and that of foreign tourists by 3% compared to November of the previous year.

Today, on 10 January the Government of the Republic approved the list of statistical actions for the years 2013–2017. In 2013, Statistics Estonia will organise over 200 statistical actions.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2012, exports from Estonia amounted to 1.15 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 1.14 billion euros at current prices. The surplus was registered in trade as exports were bigger than imports by 15 million euros.
