News releases are made public on the web site at 8 a.m. on the day announced in advance in the release calendar (excluding the special news releases which are not announced in the release calender).

News release notification can be ordered on the web site (to place an order, one must register as user). Persons who have ordered the notification will be informed via e-mail about the publication of news release.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2011 compared to October of the previous year the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 5% at constant prices. Since February compared to the same month of the previous year, the retail sales have shown a stable growth.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries grew 26%, of which 28% on domestic market.

Average wages and salaries, 3rd quarter 2011

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 809 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 4.82 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries grew 6.6% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 4.7%.

Competition to find enumerators extended in three counties

Statistics Estonia has extended the application period for enumerator jobs until 28 November in Tallinn, Harju county, Tartu county and Ida-Viru county where there have not been enough applicants. Over 6,900 applications in total have been submitted to the competition.

The map applications of the coming population census are showcased at the National Library

Today, on 16 November, the geographic information systems (GIS) and geography day is held at the National Library of Estonia from 10:00 to 17:00. Among other things, visitors can see the map applications created for the Population and Housing Census which begins at the end of this year.
