Statistics Estonia’s information for the emergency situation

The emergency situation has an impact on Statistics Estonia but it does not prevent us from fulfilling our main objective, or to collect data, produce statistics and offer statistics to the general public.

We are doing everything we can to collect and share critical information as quickly as possible and help make knowledge-based decisions by contributing reliable data.

Below you will find the main changes in our work organisation.

Data collection

We have suspended interviewers’ home visits for personal surveys until September. Data collection continues by phone interviews or online questionnaires.

We have also suspended interviewers’ home visits for SHARE, Time Use Survey and Estonian Household Finance and Consumption Survey, as phone and web interviews cannot be used for these surveys.

Submitting data

As data providers might not be able to submit data on time, we are not imposing penalty payment until August 1. We are appealing to data providers to continue to submit data, as such data help us to also assess the impact of the current crisis.

Statistics Estonia’s offices are closed, as we have sent our employees to work from home. The reception desk is open in Tallinn office and researchers are welcome to work with data in our offices.
