Eesti maakondade rahvastik. Hinnatud ja loendatud

publication

The book studies the demographic trends in the counties of Estonia from the statistical perspective. The author approaches the data as a mathematician-statistician rather than a demographer. The analysis of counties is based on the results of the 2011 Population and Housing Census. The book can be divided into two parts. The first part compares the demographic indicators of counties and major cities and outlines common trends. The second part studies each county separately and also looks at the population of cities and rural municipalities. The overview of each county follows the same structure. The book serves as a follow-up to the book “Eesti rahvastik. Hinnatud ja loendatud” by Ene-Margit Tiit, where the population of Estonia was studied as a whole without much consideration for regional differences. This book provides an overview of the size, age-sex structure and geographical distribution of county populations. Ethnic nationality and other identity characteristics are studied, along with the level of education and health status of the residents, their work, family life and living conditions.
