In compliance with the methodology found in the Handbook for EU Agricultural Price Statistics, Eurostat (2008)
The agricultural input price index (API) covers entire country and are comparable with other European Union countries.
The agricultural input price indices (API) are comparable across time. The indices can be chain-linked to make comparisons over time.
There are no direct benchmark figures to check cross domain coherence.
The internal consistency of the data is ensured by the use of a common methodology for data collection and data aggregation. The sub-indices are coherent with the total index.
Cost of statistical activity 14.7 thousand euros (data for 2018)
Total time of filling in reports of the statistical activity, working days: 28.4

DATA FROM OTHER STATISTICAL ACTIVITIES
Data from statistical activities 21207 “Economic accounts for agriculture”, 20404 “Import price index”, 20408 “Producer price index of industrial output”, 20407 “Consumer price index”, 20401 “Construction price index” and 20413 “Service producer price index” are used.

Data are collected with the official statistics monthly questionnaires “Price of the means of agricultural production. Animal feedingstuffs”, “Price of the means of agricultural production. Seeds”, “Price of the means of agricultural production. Veterinary products” and “Price of the means of agricultural production. Fertilisers and plant protection products”.
Price information is collected by sample survey, which includes enterprises selling products serving as input for agricultural production.
The input data are checked and, if necessary, corrected according to specified rules. The compliance of estimated statistics with the quality requirements is checked as well: comparisons are made with previous periods, internal coherence, the coverage of the total population and the response rate are checked.
On the bases of collected data Laspeyres-type price indices are calculated and aggregated on the requred level. For computation of lowest-level indices arithmetic mean prices are used. Microdata are aggregated on the required level.
Statistics Estonia updates the weights system and base prices for calculation of the agricultural input price index once in five years in accordance with Eurostat's methodology. The weights system corresponds to the expenses structure for production of agricultural products.
The quarterly index has been calculated as the average of three months.
The annual index has been calculated as the average of twelve months.
