According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises fell by 10.5% at constant prices compared with the year before. Output decreased in all three industrial sectors: by 21% in electricity production, by 9.8% in manufacturing, and by 4.7% in mining.

In the first quarter, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises was €752 million, including €546 million worth of building construction and €206 million worth of civil engineering. According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2023, the construction price index increased by 0.3% compared with the second quarter and by 3.2% compared with the same time last year.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in April, the volume of industrial production increased in most major manufacturing activities, while in May output rose in just a few of the main industries. “Looking at the larger industries, output increased marginally, by less than one percent, in the manufacture of wood (0.6%) and food products (0.3%). Among the major activities, output decreased in the manufacture of fabricated metal products (5.4%), electrical equipment (3.9%) and computers and electronic products (12.6%),” noted Bunder. After a few years of stagnation, 2016 can be considered rather successful for enterprises – the turnover, investments as well as the number of active enterprises increased by 4%. The improved results were reflected also in profits – the profit for the reporting year increased by 11%. Productivity indicators improved also.

According to Statistics Estonia, in February, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 740 million euros. Compared with February 2022, turnover decreased by 6% at constant prices.
