Producer price index did not change in March
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2019, the change in the producer price index of industrial output was 0.0% compared to February 2019 and 0.4% compared to March 2018.
In March compared to the previous month, the producer price index was affected more than average by a price increase in the manufacture of electronic equipment, wood and products of wood, and fuel oils, but also by a price decrease in electricity and heat energy supply.
Compared to March 2018, the index was affected more than average by a price increase in the manufacture of food products and fuel oils, and in mining and quarrying. Price decrease in the manufacture of electronic equipment also had an impact.

In March 2019, the export price index increased by 0.3% compared to February 2019 and by 0.9% compared to March 2018.
In March compared to the previous month, the prices of peat products, wearing apparel and wood products increased more than average, while the prices of electricity, agricultural and rubber and plastic products decreased.
In March 2019, the import price index increased by 0.2% compared to February 2019 and by 1.4% compared to March 2018.
In March, compared to the previous month, the prices of petroleum products and other transport equipment increased more than average, while the prices of electricity, forest products and wearing apparel decreased.
The statistics are based on the questionnaires “Producer price”, ”Export price” and “Import price”, the deadline of which was 6 April 2019. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in nine working days. For the statistical activities “Producer price index of industrial output”, “Export price index” and “Import price index”, the main representative of public interest is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, commissioned by whom Statistics Estonia collects and analyses the data necessary for conducting the statistical activities.
