The latest information technology surveys conducted by Statistics Estonia show that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) increased significantly in 2026 compared with the year before. AI use was up both among enterprises and among individuals, with the use of AI tools for private purposes rising by 53%. There was also a rise in the use of internet-connected devices, such as smart TVs and smart watches.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2026, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 3% and imports by 2% compared with July last year. Exports of goods amounted to almost 1.5 billion and imports to nearly 1.9 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 430 million euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2026, there were 8,363 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is nearly 2,000 job vacancies fewer than in the second quarter last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August, the consumer price index increased by 0.4% compared with July and by 1.5% compared with August 2025. Goods were 0.9% and services 2.4% more expensive than in August last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2026, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 2.3% at constant prices compared with July last year. Output increased in all three industrial sectors: by 13.5% in mining, by 16% in energy production and by 1.1% in manufacturing. 

According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 2,243 euros in the second quarter of 2026. Compared with the second quarter of 2025, the average gross wages and salaries increased by 5.5%, or 117 euros.
