According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,397 euros. Year on year, wages and salaries increased by 8.2%. The average hourly gross wages and salaries were 8.01 euros, which is 7% more than in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

According to the preliminary data of the Agricultural Census conducted by Statistics Estonia, there are 11,400 agricultural holdings in Estonia, which is 3,800 fewer than ten years ago. 84% of the agricultural output is contributed by 1,300 largest producers who use more than two thirds of the utilised agricultural area and account for more than a half of agricultural labour.

In September, Kaie Koskaru-Nelk, former Deputy Secretary General of Fiscal Policy of the Ministry of Finance, will assume office as Deputy Director General of Statistics Estonia. Statistics Estonia announces yet again the competition for the young statistician’s grant named after Albert Pullerits. Statistic Estonia and Garage48 organise the first data visualisation hackathon in Estonia, to be held on 9–10 May at Palo Alto Club in Tallinn. The winning team will be awarded 3,000 euros and the next two teams 1,000 euros.

Tonight, on 3 January, the e-census software will be updated. As a result, it will not be possible to participate in the e-census between 23:00 and 24:00. The updates are required to eliminate certain problems that have emerged in the first few days of the census.
