The number of foreign tourists rose substantially in March

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served over 192,000 tourists, which is 276% more than in March last year. The numbers of domestic tourists and foreign tourists* both increased.

The volume of industrial production grew by 6.4% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the total production of industrial enterprises in 2021 was 6.4% bigger than the year before. Of the three main industrial sectors, production increased by 19.2% in energy production and by 6.4% in manufacturing but decreased by 15.7% in mining.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with October 2021. Output fell in all three sectors – by 4.4% in electricity production, by 6.1% in manufacturing, and by 0.4% in mining.

The number of accommodated tourists increased in October

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2021, Estonian accommodation establishments served over 227,000 tourists, which is 44% more than in the same month last year. The numbers of domestic tourists and foreign tourists both increased.

Considering the turnover, internal trade is the largest economic activity in Estonia. It covers wholesale and retail trade as well as repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Internal trade is closely connected with other activities – goods that people buy in shops or on the internet come from factories, craftsmen and farmers. According to Statistics Estonia, 262,000 tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments in November 2019. The total number of nights spent was 479,000. 56% of the tourists were foreign tourists and 44% were domestic tourists.
