In September 2021, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 2.8% compared to August 2021 and by 19.2% compared to September 2020.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 13% and imports by 22% compared with July 2021. Re-exports from Estonia grew by 43%; exports of domestic goods remained at the same level year on year.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 6% lower than in September 2019. The number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments was down by 20%, whereas the number of domestic tourists was 19% higher than in September of the record year before the crisis. “153,000 foreign and 125,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in September 2024. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with October 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and phone services. “Among food products, the higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages (+20.4%), fruits (+12.4%) and vegetables (+5.5%) drove up the index the most compared with October last year. Sugar was 23.3% and fish and fish preparations 4.6% cheaper,” added Veski. In October, petrol was 11.3% and diesel fuel 12.9% cheaper than in October 2023. Electricity

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 12.2% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output declined in two of the three main sectors: by 14.0% in electricity production and by 12.6% in manufacturing. In mining, output increased by 12.9%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to almost 1.5 billion and imports to nearly 1.7 billion euros. Compared with the same month in 2022, exports of goods decreased by 24% and imports by 22% at current prices. The trade deficit in September was 207 million euros, which is 13 million euros more than in September last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.4% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 6.9 billion euros.
