HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.1% in May
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in May 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 0.1% compared with April. Compared with May last year, the index rose by 4.6%.
The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP.
“According to initial estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices in May was most affected by increases in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages,” said Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia.
The consumer price index data for May will be published by Statistics Estonia on 6 June. Data on the harmonised index of consumer prices will be published on 17 June.
