According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in February 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 1.3% compared with January and by 5% compared with February last year.
GDP flash estimate: economy contracted by 0.1% in Q4
According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, the economy remained almost at the same level in the fourth quarter of 2024. Gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 0.1% compared with the fourth quarter of 2023.
Study: Estonian Adults Among the Best in the World in Skills, Especially in Younger Generations
The latest results from The Survey of Adult Skills PIAAC highlight that Estonian adults perform exceptionally well in key skills, with the share of highly skilled individuals increasing since the last survey. At the same time, socioeconomic gaps have widened, and the proportion of low-skilled adults has grown. Estonia ranks 6th globally in overall skills, following Finland, Japan, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands.
Exports of goods up by 12% in February
According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2025, exports of goods increased by 12% and imports by 10%. Exports of goods amounted to nearly €1.5 billion and imports to more than €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €264 million, which is €5 million higher than in February last year.
Consumer price index down by 0.5% in March
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2025, the consumer price index decreased by 0.5% compared with February and increased by 4.4% compared with March 2024. Goods were 2.1% and services 8.1% more expensive than in March last year.
Industrial production up by 2.3% in February
According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 2.3% at constant prices compared with February 2024. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 1.6% in manufacturing and by 6% in energy production but decreased by 14.3% in mining.

The dwelling price index rose by 6.1% in 2024
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2024, the dwelling price index increased by 6.1% compared with the average of 2023. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the index was up by 3.6% compared with the fourth quarter of 2023 and down by 0.7% compared with the third quarter of 2024.
In February, the industrial producer price index was affected the most by the rising price of electricity
The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 3.3% in February 2025 compared with January and by 6.1% compared with February last year.
Exports of goods up by 13% and imports by 16% in January
According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2025, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 13% and imports by 16% compared with January 2024. Exports of goods amounted to over 1.5 billion and imports to 1.8 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 331 million euros, which is 85 million more than in January last year.
205,000 tourists: number of accommodated tourists up by 6% in January
According to Statistics Estonia, accommodation establishments served 205,000 tourists in January 2025, which is 6% more than in the same month a year earlier. The number of foreign tourists increased by 15%, while the number of domestic tourists decreased by 1%.
There were 9,071 job vacancies in the last quarter of 2024
According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2024, there were 9,071 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 1.4% less than in the same quarter in 2023. In the fourth quarter of last year, 6,705 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.
Average wages and salaries rose by 8.1% last year
According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in 2024 stood at €1,981, which is 8.1% higher than in 2023. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were €2,062, which is 8.3% higher than in the same quarter of 2023.
The increase in manufacturing output in January was mainly driven by the wood industry
According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 2.5% at constant prices compared with January 2024. Among the three industrial sectors, output increased by 2% in manufacturing but decreased by 7.4% in mining and by 21.8% in electricity production.
Exports of services up by 7% and imports by 5% in 2024
According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in 2024, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 7% and imports by 5%. Exports of services totalled €12.5 billion and imports €9.5 billion at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by €2.9 billion, which is €333 million more than in 2023.
