Riin Kadarik, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of manufacturing production increased for the third month in a row. “This has mainly resulted from increased output in the manufacture of wood and fabricated metal products, which are some of the largest activities in the manufacturing sector,” added Kadarik. Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest increase was registered in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel, where turnover volume increased by 14% last year. “The volume of turnover was up by 4% in stores selling manufactured goods but decreased by 4% in grocery stores,” added Pihlak. From 16–18 June the expert group of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will be visiting Statistics Estonia in order to elaborate the report estimating the ability of Estonia to meet the statistical requirements for joining the OECD.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2016, the exports and imports of goods both decreased by 2% compared to June of the previous year. The decrease in trade was mostly influenced by a significant drop in the exports and imports of mineral products.
