According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,146 euros; compared to 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 7.6%. The annual average monthly gross wages and salaries increased in all economic activities. The monthly gross wages and salaries were highest in the 4th quarter.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest increase was registered in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel, where turnover volume increased by 14% last year. “The volume of turnover was up by 4% in stores selling manufactured goods but decreased by 4% in grocery stores,” added Pihlak. According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2016 compared to January 2015, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 8% at constant prices. In December, the turnover increased 7% compared to the same month of the previous year and in January the growth continued at the same rate.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were 8,600 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 3rd quarter of 2014. The number of job vacancies increased by 0.3% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013 and by 12.7% compared to the previous quarter.

Compared with 2024, the volume of building construction fell by 1% and the volume of civil engineering works (roads, bridges, port facilities, pipelines, communication and electricity lines, sports fields, etc.) was down by 2%. Merike Sinisaar, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that construction volume decreased for the fourth year in a row. “The trend was positive at the beginning
