The interactive charts provide an overview of the situation of enterprises on the basis of VAT returns. The statistics cover companies liable to VAT and self-employed persons who have submitted a VAT return. Data are presented for three time periods. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) fell by 0.7% compared to the 1st quarter of 2019. The GDP at current prices was 6.5 billion euros.

The focus of the global goal “Reduced Inequalities” is safe, controlled and regular migration, and increasing the influence of developing countries in making economic and financial decisions. The 2030 Agenda lays down that the incomes of the 40% of population earning the least must grow faster than national averages. Also, all people must be treated equally, irrespective of their age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, economic or other status, while their social, economic and political inclusion must be promoted. The aim of experimental statistics is to seek new ways of producing statistics that would allow users quick and convenient access to relevant and necessary information.

To produce experimental statistics we use:

  • data linking and combining;
  • new data sources (e.g. electricity consumption data of Elering, data of mobile network operators);
  • new methods (e.g. web scraping, machine learning);
  • modern visualisation solutions (e.g. R Shiny and Flourish).

The output of experimental statistics may diverge from the traditional requirements of official statistics such as harmonisation, coverage

Social protection helps the underprivileged and vulnerable members of society to cope, covering public and private financial support and support services for job search, health care and daily living. The state organises social protection through social insurance and social welfare. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2014 compared to November 2013, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 5% at constant prices. Since August, the retail sales growth has remained within a stable of 5–6% compared to the same month of the previous year.
