The final scores of the Estonian phase of the European Statistics Competition 2020 were revealed on 10 March. The winning team in the older age group came from Viljandi Gymnasium, in the younger age group from Tartu Veeriku School.

There is exactly one week left until the end of the Population and Housing Census, as data collection continues with phone interviews. Due to the epidemic, there will be no home visits during this census. But enumerators are visiting the addresses included in the mandatory random sample to post notes that ask residents to make contact.

As of today, 1 July, a public choice competition is open, determining who will represent Estonia in the younger age group at the European Statistics Competition. The competition was interrupted during the emergency situation but is now continued.

The number of job vacancies decreased by a fourth year on year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2020, there were 8,689 vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 27% less than in the third quarter of 2019. The biggest labour turnover was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, manufacturing, and education.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the last quarter of 2020, there were 8,707 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number decreased by 16% year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.
