Since the first quarter of 2023, Statistics Estonia uses the data from the employment register of the Tax and Customs Board and the income and social tax declarations to publish the average wages and salaries. People working under employment contracts, the Civil Service Act*, and service contracts are included.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2023, Estonia’s exports of goods decreased by 15% and imports by 13% at current prices compared with May 2022. Statistics Estonia, commissioned by the Education and Youth Board, analysed for the fifth time the economic contribution of working international students and international graduates. Although the number of international degree students in Estonia was down from the previous years, international students paid 16.6 million euros in income and social tax in the academic year 2022/23, and graduates from the year before contributed 6.9 million euros. For students, this is 2.5 million euros more than in the previous academic year, while for graduates it is 1.5 million euros less.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served over 479,000 tourists, which is 26% more than in July last year. The number of domestic tourists fell, while the number of foreign tourists* increased.
