October marked the beginning of the European Social Survey 2018, organised by the University of Tartu and Statistics Estonia. The survey is conducted in 30 European countries and focuses on such topics as age discrimination, family formation and having children. In Estonia, the survey covers 2,000 persons, who are going to be visited by Statistics Estonia’s interviewers.

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in August 2020 was 0.6% compared to July 2020 and -0.9% compared to August 2019. Compared to last year’s August, goods were 0.3% and services 2.0% cheaper.

The virtual exhibition 100 Years of Estonian Statistics concludes the year of the 100th anniversary of Statistics Estonia by taking the viewers on a discovery trip from the first official data on the population of Estonia to the classified statistics of the Soviet Union.

At the end of the year, on 28 December, the Population and Housing Census, conducted every ten years, starts in Estonia. Everyone living in Estonia is invited to complete an online questionnaire for the census by 22 January 2022. In February, census takers will call or visit the people for whom filling in the questionnaire is mandatory.
