Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in November, the volume of industrial production increased in more than half of the manufacturing activities. “Looking at the larger industries, output increased in the manufacture of food products (7.8%), fabricated metal products (5.8%) and electrical equipment (20%) and, to a smaller degree, also in the manufacture of computers and electronic products (0.9%),” noted Bunder. She added that, among the major industries, there was a decrease in output in the manufacture of wood (3.4%) and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2016, the exports of goods increased by 12% and imports by 8% compared to August of the previous year. Export growth was faster than import growth and reduced the trade deficit, which was at the lowest level of this year.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that food prices are the main driver of overall inflation, as food products have the biggest weight in the consumer price index. “The prices of food products decreased in September and October but started to increase again in November,” added Veski. Compared with October, food products were 1% more expensive in November.
