According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,082 euros. Compared to the 1st quarter, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 7.1%, and compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 5.8%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2010, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 814 euros (12,735 kroons) and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 4.83 euros (75.63 kroons). Compared to the 4th quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 3.9% higher and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 1.9% higher.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,264 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 75.11 kroons. Compared to 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 5.0% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 3.1% lower. Since 1993 the average monthly gross wages and salaries decreased for the first time compared to the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,259 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 74.25 kroons. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 6.5% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 6.7% lower.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 13,117 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 79.58 kroons. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2007, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 6.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 9.9% higher. Since 1993, the growth of monthly gross wages and salaries was last as small as that in the 1st quarter of 2004 (6.5%).

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 857 euros and they grew 4.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. But the real wages continued the falling trend, which had lasted for over two years and a half already.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were the highest in Tallinn (2,384 euros) and in Harju (2,263 euros) and Tartu (2,023 euros) counties. “Compared with the first quarter of last year, the biggest increase in wages was seen in Tartu (7.2%) and Ida-Viru (6.9%) counties. The rise in average monthly wages was the slowest in Harju county, excluding Tallinn – 4.8%,” noted Saagpakk. Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the average monthly gross wages and salaries in 2024 were the highest in Tallinn (€2,325) and in Harju (€2,218) and Tartu (€1,995) counties. “Compared with 2023, the biggest increase in wages and salaries was seen in Hiiu (9.9%) and Ida-Viru (9.7%) counties. Wages and salaries rose by more than 6.5% in all Estonian counties,” the analyst stated. “Looking at the wage change trend, wage growth is still slower now than in 2023,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. Average wages in seven groups of economic activities are higher than the national average Saagpakk stated that the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the third quarter of 2024 were the highest in information and communication (€3,506), financial and insurance activities (€3,068), and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (€2,540). The lowest average monthly gross wages and salaries were seen in accommodation and food service (€1,285)

According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.
