200,000 persons already enumerated in the e-census

By the afternoon of Saturday, 7 January, more than 200,000 persons had been enumerated online. This represents about 15% of the Estonian population. Participation rates are still the highest in Tartu and Harju counties.
PHC 2011: the share of population with higher education has increased in the last decade

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), 34% of the Estonian population aged 20 and over have higher education, 45% have upper secondary education and 21% have lower secondary education or less.
Three quarters of households have Internet connection at home

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2012, 75% of households in Estonia had access to Internet at home. The share of households with Internet connection at home has increased four percentage points compared to the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, at midnight the e-census of the pilot Census of PHC 2011 came to an end. In the course of e-census, 5497 persons were enumerated via Internet. In March the pilot Census will be continued with face-to-face interviews, when the interviewers of Statistics Estonia visit the inhabitants who did not participate in e-census.

In 2017, the social protection field was mostly characterised by growth trends: the average old-age pension exceeded 400 euros, labour market measures are being used more and there is a greater variety of them, the expenditure on family allowances increased and new allowances for large families were added. The number of old-age pensioners and subsistence benefit recipients has declined.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2011, seven out of ten households in Estonia had Internet connection at home, most of them broadband connection. The percentage of households with Internet connection has slightly increased every year during the last five years.
