According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,716 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 77.16 kroons. Compared to the 2nd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 4.4% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 1.4% lower.

Epp Remmelg, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that life expectancy has shown a steady uptrend in Estonia, with the exception of the pandemic years. “Last year, compared with 2024, life expectancy increased by 0.5 years for men and by 0.1 years for women,” said Remmelg. She added that since 1995, when life expectancy at birth was 67.6 years, it has increased by 12.2 years and reached 79.8 years in 2025. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,163 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 6.91 euros. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 7.6% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 4.5%. In the 2nd quarter, the annual growth of average monthly gross wages and salaries was slightly slower than in the 1st quarter of 2016.
