Statistics Estonia will auction off the enumerators’ mobile

Statistics Estonia will sell some of the mobile phones used in the 2011 Population and Housing Census through public auction. A total of 720 mobile phones that were used by the enumerators will be put up for an electronic auction.

“Some of the mobile phones will be used in the public sector, but the remaining phones will be auctioned off as sets of 10,” said Ms Diana Beltadze, Project Manager of the 2011 Population and Housing Census.

720 used Samsung GT-E1081 mobile phones will be auctioned off. The phones will be sold as sets of 10 phones with a starting price of 5 euros per set.

Bids can be made starting from today at the online auction site www.osta.ee. The auction is open until 21 December 2012.

The 11th population census in Estonia was conducted from 31 December 2011 until 31 March 2012. Previous censuses were carried out in 1881, 1897, 1922, 1934, 1941, 1959, 1970, 1979, 1989 and 2000. The next population census will be conducted in Estonia in 2020/2021.
