This year, Statistics Estonia awards the 11th young statistician’s prize named after Albert Pullerits. The prize is given to one young student whose Bachelor's or Master's thesis applies or develops a statistical method.

Albert Pullerits (1892–1967) was the first director of the Estonian State Central Bureau of Statistics and the founder and developer of official statistics in Estonia. The aim of the prize dedicated to him is to:

  • recognise young people who help to promote statistics as an important branch of science;
  • to motivate young people interested in statistics to apply and develop statistical methods;
  • to strengthen Statistics Estonia’s collaboration with research institutions.

The competition is open to all under 30 year old permanent residents of Estonia whose Master’s or Bachelor’s thesis on population, social life, economy or the environment, completed in 2021, applies or develops a statistical method.

Student papers and the documents listed in the competition conditions can be submitted to Statistics Estonia by e-mail (stat [at] stat.ee, keyword "Albert Pulleritsu preemia") until 1 September 2021 (incl.).
