The Population and Housing Census, which started at the end of last year, continues on a smaller scale in February. Throughout the month, enumerators are contacting the people who did not respond to the e-census but live at mandatory sample addresses.

The first-ever relationship survey*, conducted by Statistics Estonia, points to several areas of concern in Estonian people's intimate relationships. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia were 1,548 euros, which is 6.9% more than in 2020. Wage growth recovered following a slowdown in 2020 and reached the pre-pandemic level.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2022, there were 13,076 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 38% more than in the same quarter of 2021. More than 4,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

The population figure shows how many people live in Estonia at the beginning of the year. The population includes Estonian citizens as well as foreign nationals and stateless persons residing in the country. A person is considered a resident if they have lived in Estonia for at least one year or intend to live here for at least one year.
