The aim of the innovation fund project is to create a framework for data interoperability between the private and public sectors. Lauri Veski, the Consumer Price Statistics Service Manager at Statistics Estonia, said that the 0.5% month-on-month decrease in the consumer price index is not unusual – there were several similar decreases last year, most recently in December. “However, the year-on-year increase in June was 2.3%, which is the smallest rate since April 2021. At 00:00 on Saturday, 31 December, the eleventh population and housing census will begin in Estonia. In January, residents can participate in the census online, by completing the census questionnaire at www.rel2011.ee.

The e-census part of the Estonian Population and Housing Census ended on Saturday, January 22. According to the preliminary data, 568,891 persons, i.e. 43% of the Estonian population, were enumerated.

The focus of the global goal “Climate Action” is to mitigating the impact from climate change and adapting to it. The average global temperature continues to rise and global sea ice is shrinking. This causes floods and natural disasters to occur more often and increases the risk of species extinction. The 2030 Agenda lays down the target to mitigate climate change as well as adapt to it. During the population and housing census, information on the highest level of education attained by inhabitants of Estonia was also gathered. Collected data revealed that the educational attainment of the population continues to rise. The level of education of foreigners living in here has also increased significantly. Below we will take a closer look at the educational attainment of the native Estonian- and Russian-speaking population as well as that of other mother tongue speakers and see how it has changed since the previous censuses.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the population of Estonia on 1 January 2023 was 1,357,739, an increase by 2% (or 25,943 people) compared with a year earlier.
