According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2015 compared to April of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 6% at constant prices. While in March retail sales increased 8% compared to the same month of the previous year, then in April the growth in retail sales decelerated slightly.

The recognition of best data story was given to the publication " Kuidas mõista andmestunud maailma? Metodoloogiline teejuht" ("Making sense of the datafied world - a methodological guide"). 38 authors contributed to the publication, which was edited by Anu Masso, Katrin Tiidenberg and Andra Siibak. The recognition of best infographic was given to " Õendustöötajate ambulatoorsed vastuvõtud ja koduvisiidid" ("Out-patient consultations and home visits of nursing staff"). Its authors are Viktoria Kirpu and Eva Anderson from the National Institute for Health Development.

The aim of experimental statistics is to seek new ways of producing statistics that would allow users quick and convenient access to relevant and necessary information.

To produce experimental statistics we use:

  • data linking and combining;
  • new data sources (e.g. electricity consumption data of Elering, data of mobile network operators);
  • new methods (e.g. web scraping, machine learning);
  • modern visualisation solutions (e.g. R Shiny and Flourish).

The output of experimental statistics may diverge from the traditional requirements of official statistics such as harmonisation, coverage

In Estonia, the general government sector is divided into three: central government comprising state budget units and extra-budgetary funds, foundations and legal entities governed by public law; local governments, i.e. city and rural municipality administrations with their subsidiary units; social security funds: Estonian Health Insurance Fund and Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund. According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2012 compared to September of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 7% at constant prices. Since March this year, the retail sales growth remained within 6 to 9% compared to the same month of the previous year.
