According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased by 3% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018. Similarly to the 1st quarter, construction volume increased due to work done in foreign countries, whereas construction volume on the domestic market decreased.

The aim of experimental statistics is to seek new ways of producing statistics that would allow users quick and convenient access to relevant and necessary information.

To produce experimental statistics we use:

  • data linking and combining;
  • new data sources (e.g. electricity consumption data of Elering, data of mobile network operators);
  • new methods (e.g. web scraping, machine learning);
  • modern visualisation solutions (e.g. R Shiny and Flourish).

The output of experimental statistics may diverge from the traditional requirements of official statistics such as harmonisation, coverage

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2010, compared to August of the previous year exports of goods at current prices grew by 37% and imports by 34%. The growth of the turnover of exports and imports was faster only in May this year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2011 compared to October of the previous year the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 5% at constant prices. Since February compared to the same month of the previous year, the retail sales have shown a stable growth.
