Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has forced millions of Ukrainians to flee their homes and homeland. Many of them have found a new home in Estonia. Ukrainian citizens and their family members who have come to Estonia because of the war can apply for temporary protection, which includes the right to work in the country. Commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Statistics Estonia analyses the employment situation of Ukrainian refugees under temporary protection and the Ukrainian citizens staying in the country on other grounds

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2017, the Estonian general government deficit was 0.3% and the gross debt level was 9% of the gross domestic product.

According to revised data of Statistics Estonia, in 2009 the Estonian general government sector deficit was 1.7% and gross debt level was 7.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In the 1st half of 2010 the general government sector deficit was 4.2 billion kroons and gross debt level was 15 billion kroons.

Changes in the methodology of the Estonian Labour Force Survey

Due to the requirements of the Integrated European Social Statistics (IESS) regulation, as of 2021, the Estonian Labour Force Survey is based on a new methodology. The main goal of the changes is to improve data quality. Statistics Estonia will publish the data of the 1st quarter of 2021, calculated according to the new methodology, in its database on 17 May.
