According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2009, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 12,259 kroons and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 74.25 kroons. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2008, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were by 6.5% lower and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were by 6.7% lower.

In April, the monthly change in the consumer price index was mainly influenced by food and motor fuel

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the increased output of manufacturing resulted primarily from the higher volume of production in the manufacture of wood. “In January, the output of the wood industry was up by 8.3% year on year. This was the first time since May 2022 that the output of this industry increased,” explained Bunder. In January, the volume of industrial production increased in more than half of manufacturing activities. Looking at the larger industries, there was an increase in output in the manufacture of wood (8.3%), fabricated metal products (5.9%)

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that nearly 1.86 million foreign tourists and nearly 1.76 million domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in 2024. “Compared with 2023, there were 11% more foreign tourists, while the number of domestic tourists remained at the same level. If we compare last year’s figures to 2019, which was the pre-pandemic record year, the number of accommodated domestic tourists has increased by over 200,000 but, at the same time, the number of foreign tourists has decreased by almost 400,000,” noted Laurmaa. According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with July last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 16.9% in mining and by 16.3% in electricity production but decreased by 7.8% in manufacturing.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in November, the volume of industrial production increased in more than half of the manufacturing activities. “Looking at the larger industries, output increased in the manufacture of food products (7.8%), fabricated metal products (5.8%) and electrical equipment (20%) and, to a smaller degree, also in the manufacture of computers and electronic products (0.9%),” noted Bunder.
