The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP. “According to initial estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices in April was most affected by increases in the prices of healthcare services and food as well as by lower housing costs,” said Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia. Exports of goods in particular rose in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 5% and imports by 1% compared with July 2023. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.3 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €321 million, which is €59 million less than in July last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonia’s exports of goods in July amounted to 1.3 billion and imports to 1.6 billion euros. Compared with July 2022, exports of goods decreased by 26% and imports by 20% at current prices. The trade deficit in July was 385 million euros, which is 42 million euros more than in the same month last year.

GDP flash estimate: economy grew by 1.2% in Q1

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that the improvement in Estonian economy continued in the first quarter of 2025. “Compared with the first quarter of 2024, the GDP increased by 1.2%. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, the seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP was up by 0.1%,” explained Müürsepp. Statistics Estonia will publish GDP data for the first quarter of 2025 on 30 May .
