According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2024, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 2%, while imports were unchanged from the same period last year. Sales of services to non-residents totalled €2.8 billion and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to €2.2 billion at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by €595 million, which is €45 million more than a year earlier.

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2015, 207,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments which is 3% fewer than in November 2014. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.

According to Statistics Estonia, 346,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in June 2016, which was 7% more than in June 2015. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2024, Estonia’s exports and imports of services both grew by 3%. Exports of services totalled 3.1 billion euros and imports of services 2.3 billion euros at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by 802 million euros, which is 39 million euros more than in the second quarter last year.

Jane Leppmets, a foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that growth in foreign trade in services was most affected by travel services and other business services. “In the third quarter, exports of services to EU countries increased by 8% and imports from EU countries by 4%. Extra-EU exports of services were also up by 8%, however, extra-EU imports were down by 4%. The latter was mainly affected by a decline in purchases of services from the United States,” Leppmets pointed out. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st half-year of 2012, 1.24 million tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of Estonia, which was 6% more than last year and more than in the 1st half-year of any previous year.
