Average monthly gross income per employee increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2017, the average monthly gross income per employee was 1,155 euros. The gross income increased 7.6% compared to 2016; growth was the fastest (8.6%) in the age group of young people (aged under 25).
Statistics Estonia extends the e-census by 24 hours

Statistics Estonia lengthens the opportunity to participate in the e-census by 24 hours due to a big interest of the population in the e-census. People can participate online in the Population Census until 23:59 on 1 February.
PHC 2011: Number of households with children is decreasing

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), there were 599,832 households in Estonia. Compared to the previous, 2000 Population Census, the share of households with children younger than 18 years of age has decreased from 33.6% to 25.2%.
Last year immigration and emigration increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011, 3,709 persons immigrated into Estonia and 6,214 persons emigrated from Estonia. Compared to the previous year, immigration as well as emigration increased.
Older women are facing greater risk of poverty

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 the at-risk-of-poverty rate of older women was over two times higher than that of older men. 41% of women aged 65 and older and 19% of men of the same age lived in relative poverty.
Almost a half of Estonian enterprises are innovative

According to Statistics Estonia, 47.7% of Estonian enterprises were innovative in 2016. Industrial enterprises are the most active innovators.
