According to Statistics Estonia, from today the customers of Statistics Estonia have an opportunity to explore the Estonian population statistics on Google Earth.
In 2012, Statistics Estonia will collect the data from nearly 40,000 economic units. From now on, it is possible to check on the web site of Statistics Estonia whether the economic unit has been picked into the sample and has an obligation to submit the data.
Today, on 16 November, the geographic information systems (GIS) and geography day is held at the National Library of Estonia from 10:00 to 17:00. Among other things, visitors can see the map applications created for the Population and Housing Census which begins at the end of this year.
Yesterday, on 3 November the competition for enumerator’s post came to an end. As total, over 6,600 persons wish to become an enumerator in different regions of Estonia.
The enumerators will visit people in the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year only during the period 16.02 – 31.03.2012 and present their employment certificate with a photo issued by Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, there were over 11,200 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 1st quarter of 2017. This is the highest number of job vacancies in the past 8 years. While in the previous quarter, the number of job vacancies reached slightly above 9,000, in the 1st quarter, the number of job vacancies increased by 24%.
The Population and Housing Census starting on the last day of the year enables to estimate the emigration from the country during the last decade, spoke Professor Ene-Margit Tiit at the Population Register Seminar in Tallinn today, on 6 October.
Today, on 31 March, Statistics Estonia holds a meeting with the representatives of chief and authorised processors of registers and databases. The participants will discuss how well the registers are prepared for the register-based population and housing census in 2020/2021.
According to Statistics Estonia, more than 4,000 persons have already expressed their wish to work for the 2011 Population and Housing Census. Large-scale job competitions will be announced this autumn.
At 00:00 on Saturday, 31 December, the eleventh population and housing census will begin in Estonia. In January, residents can participate in the census online, by completing the census questionnaire at www.rel2011.ee.
